The Astronaut scholarship awards $10,000 to students studying science

Students with a passion for science and the stars can get this $10K grant

Science students have the opportunity to get this $10,000 scholarship, but they have to be nominated by their university first

Have you ever dreamed at becoming an astronaut? We know we have at some point. Well if this fascination for space has turned into a passion for science later on, then you might want to listen to what we have to say next.

Students who are currently enrolled with a traditional or online bachelor degree in science have an awesome opportunity to secure funding for their studies. Created by the Mercury 7 Astronauts, the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation awards a $10,000 grant to offline or online degree program sophomore, junior or senior.

As stated on the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation’s website, the institution was created to ensure that the US would maintain a leadership in space exploration, as well as science and technology by offering support to some of the best students in the field enrolled with a traditional or online bachelor degree, as well as those in post graduate programs.

To be eligible to receive this award, you will need to be nominated by faculty members. So do well to remember that students may not directly apply for the award. Applicants need to be pursuing a degree in the following fields: astronomy, biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, computer science or mathematics. Medical students are not eligible to apply.

By the time they are nominated for the scholarship, applicants need to be able to demonstrate a spotless academic record and to have conducted considerable lab work or research in their field.

The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation is looking to offer the scholarship to a student who has shown creativity, as well as excellence in their current field of study.

Medical students, you shouldn’t feel left out. There are other scholarship opportunities available or you to take advantage of. Like the Avacare Medical Scholarship which is awarded to people who are pursuing a degree (or thinking of pursuing) in medical fields such as therapy, nursing, medicine, nutrition, laboratory science or dentistry.

In order to apply for this $1,000 scholarship, you are required to detail an act of kindness that inspired you. You can do so by writing an original essay (up to 800 words with relevant pictures included) or creating a video of up to 1.5 minutes in one of these formats: mov, .mp4, .m4v, .flv, .3gp, .avi, .wmv. Or you could submit an image with a short description attached. It’s up to you, which format you pick.

You have until December 15, 2017 to apply for this grant. Be advised that submission that contain grammatical or spelling errors won’t be taken into consideration, so make sure to revise your content before sending it. Or maybe ask a friend or a family member to look over it once you are.

Submissions are judged based on quality of content and creativity. So if you think you got what it takes to triumph, go ahead and get started.

While the Avacare Medical scholarship might not be as generous as the Astronaut one, it’s still free money you can use to pay for your college tuition.
