Write poetry? Win this $52,000 scholarship to travel abroad

Let your passion for poetry pay for your college degree

Students who are good at writing poetry can secure this large scholarship for travelling abroad

If you’ve had a passion and flair for writing poetry all your life, now it’s the time to put this skill to good use. Maybe you’re thinking of commencing your college education online or offline, so you’re in dire need of funding. If that’s the case for you, then you should try applying for a few poetry contests.

You might not know this, but poetry contests actually offer consistent cash prizes, so if you’ve been sitting on this talent for years you should try and put it to good use.

Where can you find such contests? Accredited online universities or their traditional counterparts often hosts such contests for their alumni. But if yours isn’t, there are other foundations who are seeking to award prizes to talented new poets.

Start your college education online or offline the right way by making sure you have enough money to support this education. The simplest way to do that is to apply for a scholarship or enter a contest.

Like the Amy Lowell Poetry Travelling Scholarship. This grant is dedicated to students of accredited online universities or traditional ones who want to travel abroad and enrich their view on existence. Such experiences are extremely important to creative spirits, as they fuel their imagination which translates into better work.

While you don’t have to be a student specifically to enter the Amy Lowell scholarship program, this is a great way to earn money for college if you already have the material needed to apply for this grant.

So what does the application process entail? You will have to submit a few samples of your work – this can be either 1 to 40 typed pages or a printed volume of poetry and no more than 20 additional typed pages.

You have to realize this competition is for students who have been in a habit of composing poetry and lyrics for a few years. If you’re not skilled or trained in the art of poetry writing, you probably shouldn’t bother starting up on this hobby just to enter this scholarship program.

However, if you do have material at your disposal the grant is certainly worthy of being taken into consideration. The 2018-2019 scholarship award is approximately $58,000. This money should be used on travel and living expenses, so if you have enrolled in a degree program abroad to study literature or whatever topic is of interest for you, this money should help you deal with living expenses while you are there.

The 2017-2018 scholarship winner has already been announced, but you will be able to apply next year. This means you have plenty of time to start composing verse, if you think you can be good at it.

University fees are continuously on the rise, so finding as many funding opportunities as you can it’s highly important if you want to be sure you’re going to secure a grant before you start your school year. The Amy Lowell Poetry Travelling Scholarship is one such chance.
